Open to the public since 1989 and housed in the Gazanfer Aga Medrese,the Karikatur Muzesi or the Istanbul Museum of Cartoon & Humour museum contains original work of many Turkish cartoonists, a collection of Turkish and international periodicals, as well as book on cartoons and humor.

The museum provides individual or mixed exhibitions for local and international artists. There are two types of exhibitions. One is the exhibition for the history of Turkish humour, the other is the exhibition for international artist organized at least every month.

The museum has a humour library (Mizah Kitapligi) made of publications on humour published in Turkey and the world as well as an archieve of humour of any works collected from Turkey and the world and classified according to the countries.
