ORIENTATION

Porto Seguro is made up of two main sections.

The lower city, starting on the north shore of the river of Buranhem, is the more modern and recent part of the city, dominated by the old Passarela do Alcool, a place filled with bars and restaurants.

The northern part of Porto Seguro, the “Old” city centre, is a part with great historical importance, with many colonial buildings, churches and monuments.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

The weather here is hot and humid. Rain is more frequent in July and August.

HOW TO GET THERE

The Porto Seguro Airport has many national and international daily connections to Porto Seguro. The best way to get to the city centre is by taking a taxi.

TRAVELLING AROUND

The best way to explore the city centre is on foot, however, renting a car probably the best option to travel around the region.

Porto Seguro bus or suburban trains are also an option for day trips into the countryside and to important attractions.

To visit Arraial d’Ajuda, you can take the ferry across the river and then a bus to Arraial.
