The Museum of the Republic, formerly the Catete Palace, was established in 1960.

Well known as the place were brazilian president Getúlio Vargas committed suicide, this museum has a collection of art and artifacts from the Republican period.

The library has more than 10,000 books and publications on Social Sciences and History of Brazil,

Besides the personal collections donated to the museum like from Getúlio Vargas, you must see the magnificent paintings.
