The Plaça Catalunya is regarded as the very central most point of Barcelona city centre and, for many a traveller, will also be the main transport hub for their journey.
The square links to important roads in the city, such as Las Ramblas, the Paseo de Grace, the Rambla de Catalunya, the rounds and the University of Sant Peter Street and Avenue Pelai Angel Portal.
The Plaça de Catalunya functions as a hub for the city's public transportation. Below the square is the main subway junction; three metro lines and a city railway line meet here. Many of the city's buses, as well as airport express and tourist buses stop here at the square.
