Near to the River Daugava is the Riga Castle, in latvian RÄ«gas pils.
This museum was built in the mid-14th century and is normally the residence of Latvia’s president, Andris Berzins, and home to the National History Museum.
In June 2013, the castle was badly damaged by fire.
