Kolonaki is the first word that a good shopper should know. It is the old chic neighborhood of Athens and also the trendiest and most stylish shopping area of the city. Tsakalof Street is Kolonaki's most famous and is rated among the six most expensive streets in the world.
Tsakalof Street is crammed with designer clothes. On the left just after Da Capo is a small shopping centre which contains Gucci and a shop called Girl that sells Fendi and Blumarine. On the right-hand side is another shopping centre that is mostly taken up with Prince Oliver, a Greek designer emporium where such names as Helmut Lang, Paul Smith and a Katharine Hamnett are sold.
Just a stone's throw from Syntagma Square, Kolonaki has always been the most fashionable and chic area of Athens, teeming with boutiques -Gucci, Lanvin, Bulgari, Lancel, Vuitton- trendy coffee shops and hip restaurants.
