Quinta da Conceicao is the main municipal public park from Matosinhos. In 1481 was the installation of the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Convent. Currently it is still visible the ancient cloister of the convent, some fountains, a “Manuelino” style portal and the chapel of San Francisco. The place was abandoned for more than three centuries. During the 1960s there were some improvements designed by the architect Fernando Távora, when was built a tennis court and a swimming pool designed by the architect Álvaro Siza.
