Signe and Ane Gyllenberg created a foundation dedicated to supporting medical research and also gave it the task of ensuring that their art collection would be exhibited for the enjoyment of the public after their death.

Their house is the Villa Gyllenberg.
The permanent collection contains about two hundred Finnish work from the era of 1756-1970, most of this period, known Finnish painters are represented such as Gallen-Kallela's Ad Astra and Schjerfbeck.
