Alameda del Duque de Santa Elena

for free

It was built in 1797 by order of the Commander General of the Canaries, Marquis of Branciforme, and by popular subscription. It was the place to walk for families from Santa Cruz, and was a real balcony overlooking the sea, from which you could see the arrival of people to the capital's port. One of the most famous visits in living memory was that of King Alfonso XIII.
The environment has been recently restored following the project of the Swiss architects Herzog & De Meuron. The work has included the rebuilding of a replica of The Alameda porch.
