Close to the Shrine is a small museum dedicated to the life and death of St. John Neumann, Bishop of Philadelphia and the first American male to be canonized.

The shire itself is worth seeing, but in the museum you can also see photographs, sculptures, books, jewelry, coffins, and especially haunting instruments of self-mortification of the bishop.
