"NELSON´S CHALLENGE TOUR" offers a guided visit to the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, going all over museums and historical sites that recall the attack of rearadmiral Nelson in 1797 and tells the story of the city in its way to the recognition as capital of Tenerife and of the Canary Islands. The resistance to the attack of the English fleet commanded by rearadmiral Sir Horace Nelson and defended by General Gutierrez marks a milestone in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The last and most attractive location to visit will be the San Juan castle where a historical reenactment will give live to the tour with actors, performing in the roll of soldiers of the XVIII century, in an entertaining and participative way interacting with the visitors. The visit will go through Plaza de España, Alameda del Duque Santa Elena, the museum of Castillo de San Cristóbal, and finish with Castillo de San Juan where the visitors will relive an XVIII century castle.


TOUR ROUTE

1. PLAZA DE ESPAÑA. Perfomance of the changing of the guard between Castillo San Cristóbal Museum and Alameda del Duque de Santa Elena in Plaza de España.

2. MUSEUM CASTILLO SAN CRISTÓBAL. Visit to the Museum where the famous “El Tigre” cannon is shown, supposedly responsible for taking Admiral Nelson´s right arm.

3. TOUR ACROSS THE CITY IN NELSON´S CHALLENGE "SHIP". After the visit of the museum of San Cristóbal, the "ship" will depart from Plaza de España across the city in a 15min sigthseing tour, towards San Juan´s Castle.

4. SAN JUAN´S CASTLE. Here you will enter an XVIII Century castle, guarded by soldiers, a prisoner, a sargent and angry duelists. You will live the experience of a historical reenacment and defend the castle from a pirate´s attack.

5. TENERIFE CHEESE AND WINE TASTING (extra service for 10.00 EUR, not available in August). Right beside the castle, in the Tenerife Auditorium, you will be able to watch a video about Nelson´s attack on the night of the 25th of July 1797, while you taste the Canary Islands "goodies".

6. RETURN TO PLAZA DE ESPAÑA, END OF THE TOUR. At the end, Nelson´s Challenge "ship" will return all the visitors to Plaza de España.
