ORIENTATION

Located along the Brisbane River, the city is a combination of old and new.
Most important tourist attractions are to be found on the north of the river, such as the City Hall, Queen Street Mall, the Treasury Building, the Riverside Centre, the Botanical Gardens and Roma Street Parkland.
South of the river, the Queensland University Campus, the stylish neighbourhood of West End, the Kangaroo Point and the South Bank Parklands are some of the most important places to be visited.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
Brisbane has a subtropical climate, with hot and humid summers (November to April) and dry and mild winters. Temperatures rarely drop below 20°C (68°F).
HOW TO GET THERE
By Plane
Brisbane Airport is located northeast of the city, 13km (8 miles) from the centre. The AirTrain connects the Domestic and International Terminals, and Central Railway Station in the city. Coachtrans provides transfers via shuttle bus to Brisbane City hotels and to the Gold Coast. There are also taxis available to take you to the city centre.
By Train
Roma Street Transit Centre is the main station for long-distance trains and Central Station is the station for the Citytrain rail network for Southeast Queensland and the Gold Coast. There are daily services from Sydney, with connections from Melbourne and Canberra.
TRAVELLING AROUND
Brisbane is a great city for walking and it’s really easy to explore the area around the CBD on foot.
Public Transport
TransLink operates an extensive network of buses, rail and ferry and city CATs (catamarans). The Loop is a free bus that circles the CBD.
Bicycle Hire
Brisbane has many bicycle pathways on both sides of the river, east and west of the city centre.
It is also possible to rent a car or travel around by taxi.
