Shanghai is one of the most populous, wealthy and developed cities in China, full of vanguard skyscrapers, flamboyant restaurants and bars, chic hotels and incredible shopping stores. Thee city is located in the middle of China's east coastline and has over 16 million inhabitants.

ORIENTATION

The Huangpu River separates west and east Shanghai. On the west is located the historic Bund boulevard and the most interesting quarters such as Luwan. On the east is situated the ultra moderns and futuristic quarter of Pudong.

In the Old Town there are some interesting cultural sights, such as the Yu Yuan Gardens, the Bazaar and the People's Square.

 

 

BEST TIME TO GO

Shanghai has an extreme weather, with freezing winters and hot and wet summers. The best time to visit the city would be during the autumn or spring months.

 

 

HOW TO GET THERE

Pudong Airport is located 30km (19 miles) southeast of Shanghai. There are free shuttle buses transferring passengers between the terminals.

 

Transport to the city:

There are several bus shuttles into the city centre. Apart from that, the maglev train (magnetic levitation shuttle train) runs every 15-30 minutes from the airport to Longyang Li metro station in Pudong, taking only 8 minutes. From there you can catch a connecting taxi or Line 2 metro train to your final destination.

Metered taxis are also available at the official stand outside the terminals, and take around 45 minutes to the centre.

  

 

TRAVELLING AROUND

Travel by metro or taxi is by far the best option to move around the city.

Shanghai metro is efficient and easy to navigate and taxis are plentiful, inexpensive and secure.
