India is a tremendously diverse and spiritual country, with huge differences in its natural features, climate, culture, traditions, language and ethnicity. It is the seventh largest country in the world by area and, with over a billion people, is second only to China in population.
It shares borders with China and Nepal to the north, Bhutan to the north-east, Bangladesh and Myanmar to the east and Pakistan to the west. It is also delimited by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the west, and the Bay of Bengal on the east.
