Ubud is a town in central Bali, Indonesia, very famous for its culture, arts and crafts.
There are many art workshops and galleries all over the town and also some remarkable architectural sights to visit.
Along the rivers outside the town, there are still terraced rice fields and quite typical villages.
Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave)
The town spreads in all directions, with all of the small villages within 5km from the central market.
Central Ubud has three major streets: Jl Raya (the main road), Jl Monkey Forest and Jl Hanoman. At the junction of the first two is the Market, the Palace and the central bemo stop.
Jl Monkey Forest is home to a large selection of accommodation, art galleries, restaurants and cafes. To the west and northwest, the villages of Campuhan and Kedewatan, have some of most exclusive hotels in the island.
Central Ubud is easy to visit on foot, however to explore the surroundings you will need to travel by bemo, taxi, motorcycle, or rent-a-car.
