Penang is a tropical island off the north-western coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The island has some beautiful beaches and most of all, a rich multicultural history which is full of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and European influences. Penang has also many gastronomy delicacies not to miss.

ORIENTATION
The state of Penang is formed by two parts: the Penang Island, 8km east of the mainland in the Straits of Malacca, and Seberang Perai, a rectangular-shaped district connected to the the mainland.
Georgetown is Penang's capital city, located on the northeast. The northern coast, including Batu Ferringhi, is known for its great beaches and resorts.
The most undeveloped areas and more peaceful beaches are to be found on the southern side of the island.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
Penang has warm climate all year round, with an average annual temperature of 28º C (82º F). From August to November are the wettest months. The period between December and February is pretty dry and probably the perfect time to visit Penang.
HOW TO GET THERE
By plane
Penang Bayan Lepas International Airport is on the south-eastern coast of the island, about 20 minutes from Georgetown. To get to the centre you can take the Rapid Penang bus nr.401A or a taxi.
TRAVELLING AROUND
To visit the city centre of Georgetown, the best way is on foot; however, to get around the island, you need to take a taxi, a bus or rent-a-car or a bicycle.
