Antwerp is a Belgium city located in the region of Flanders. This city is attractive to visit, as there are so many good things there: the friendly people, the nightlife, the chocolate, the sea food and an especially relaxed way of living.
Antwerp is well known for being one of the world's leading diamond trade centres and also for having one of the biggest harbours in Europe.

ORIENTATION
Large Antwerp's broad avenues mark the position of the original fortified city walls. In the historic centre, Notre Dame Cathedral, a gothic church from the XIV and XV centuries, is worth visiting.
The Market square is surrounded by characteristic medieval houses and by the city hall, with a special italo-flemish style, very exclusive of this region. In the streets around the square, there are many clubs with live jazz, typical of the nightlife of the city.
The south of the city used to be a former trade dock in the 60´s, but nowadays is probably the trendiest part of the city and known as a "yuppie stronghold".
BEST TIME TO GO
Antwerp´s weather is pleasant all year round, but between spring and autumn it´s milder and the city is best to visit.
HOW TO GET THERE
The Antwerp airport, in the district of Deurne has a regular bus to the centre and a taxi costs around GBP 10.
The Brussels Airport is 45 km from Antwerp and there connections by bus and by train to the city centre.
TRAVELLING AROUND
Most things to visit in Antwerp are near the Boulevards, so it´s also easy to go by foot.
The public transports have a dense network of buses, trams, and pre-metro connections (one ticket cost around 1,25 GBP).
But just like in Amsterdam, you can use a bicycle. There are many special areas for cyclists and can be rented at numerous point in town.
