Paphos is a small Cypriot town at the south-western side of the country and placed between the seaside and the Troodos Mountains.
Paphos is the mythological place of birth of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty.
Back in the Greco-Roman period, Paphos was the capital of the island, and it is famous for the vestiges of the Roman Governor's palace, where the principal tourist attraction are the extensive and fine mosaics. The town of Pafos is listed as cultural and natural treasures of the world's heritage by UNESCO.

ORIENTATION
Pafos is located 70 km south of Turkey and about 100km west from Syria.
The city is nowadays divided in the lower Kato Pafos (containing the main archaeological points of interest, as well as most hotels and tavernas) and the upper section (up the hill being the commercial centre).
BEST TIME TO GO
The most pleasant time to visit Pafos are form May to October. Pafos has a typical Mediterranean weather with long, dry summers and mild winters.
HOW TO GET THERE
Paphos International Airport is located 10 km south-east of the city. The taxi to the city centre costs between 15 – 20 euros and takes 15 minutes.
TRAVELLING AROUND
Paphos town centre is small and easy to visit by foot. Nevertheless to get to know the surrounding regions, you should take a bus, a taxi or rent a car.
