All those who are curious for more, can visit the "Tiergarten" one of Europe's most beautifully landscaped zoos, the Planetarium, the State Theatre and Opera and many fascinating small theatres.
ORIENTATION
HOW TO GET THERE
Every year, more than 3.8 million air passengers travel via Nuremberg International Airport, only a few minutes by underground away from the city centre. The international airport boasts up to 70 direct flight links to destinations in 21 countries.
By Rail
The main railway station, recently lavishly refurbished, is connected to the national and international network of EC, IC and ICE trains and is used by 40 million travellers each year. From summer 2006, the new high speed (ICE) track between Nuremberg and Munich will shorten the travelling time between these two major Bavarian centres to just over an hour.
The city is surrounded by a network of motorways connecting it to all directions of the compass. A state-of-the-art dynamic traffic guidance system provides easy access to the city and facilitates parking during major events.
More and more guests travel to Nuremberg by boat on the Main-Danube Canal. Every year, more than 500 cruise ships are expected in the port of Nuremberg. Shipping companies are offering Christmas tours, wine tours, and romantic art and culture tours.
TRAVELLING AROUND
Nuremberg boasts a close network of suburban and underground trains, buses and trams. The city's surroundings, too, are well connected by public transport. You can find current time tables, prices and much more information on the websites of the various companies.
More than 60 taxi stances can be found all over Nuremberg at all important traffic crossroads, buildings and institutions, such as the airport and the main train station, the main market square, the stadium and the trade fair centre. Taxis may also be ordered by phone via the "Taxizentrale" central switchboard. Taxizentrale Nürnberg (central taxi switchboard): 0911 / 1 94 10.
