Stuttgart is the capital of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, with about 590.000 inhabitants in the city and more than 2, 6 million people in the metropolitan area.
Currently it is the 6th largest city in Germany. It is very famous for its automotive industry - Porsche and Mercedes-Benz have their head offices in Stuttgart and both have also car museums. This city also has an amazing urban landscape, gardens and parks and beautiful buildings.
REASONS TO GO
Try the popular culinary flavours: Maultauschen (noodles filled with hamburger meat, eggs, onions, spices…) or Spätzle (staple of flour, eggs, salt) together with a nice glass of Trollinger (region wine).
The Mercedes-Benz Museum - astonishing architecture on a total area of approximately 17.000 sq.m.. They have around 160 vehicles on permanent display, including not only the earliest models but also the latest series production vehicles.

ORIENTATION
The city is placed on the banks of River Neckar in the heart of one of the largest wine-growing regions of Germany and close to the Black Forest.
The Schlossplatz (or Palace Square), the symbolic heart of Stuttgart, is one of the most beautiful squares in Europe, with buildings from distinct art periods and the Statue of Concordia right in the middle.

The weather is less severe between May and October. In September there is a huge Wine Festival worth visiting.
HOW TO GET THERE
Stuttgart has one airport, located in Leinfelden-Echterdingen. The best way to get to the city centre is the Public Transport which is clean, economic and secure. The S-Bahn line S2 or S3 will take you to Stuttgart's centre in 27 minutes and several bus lines head for other destinations.
TRAVELLING AROUND
In the inner city, walking is no problem. By foot, you can cross in 25 minutes the inner city. Stuttgart's public transport is entirely integrated and a travel ticket can be used on any mixture of buses and trains/trams that may be necessary to complete the journey.
Public transportation is provided by the Stadtbahn (U-bahn) and S-Bahn.
