Gozo is an island of the Maltese archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea. The island is part of the Southern European country of Malta; after the island of Malta itself, it is the second-largest island in the archipelago.
Though separated from mainland Malta by a 5km stretch of sea, Gozo is distinctly different from Malta. Gozo has a slow tempo, green scenery, rural and fishing villages.
The island itself has around 30.000 inhabitants. It is rich in historical locations, forts, Baroque churches and old stone farmhouses on the countryside.
