Alicante is a city located in the southern part of the Valencian Community, with close to 332.000 inhabitants. It is an elegant city, with a Mediterranean port, amazing and clean beaches, many shopping stores and magnificent historic monuments.
Alicante is situated between the sea and the mountains, and its principal landmark is the Castle of Santa Barbara, located on the Benacantil Hill, proof of the Moorish heritage we can find in the region.
Throughout the year, this city has many traditional festivities as the very well known St. John Bonfires (Hogueras de San Juan).

ORIENTATION
Alicante is located in the southeast of Spain, located between Benidorm and Elche. On the north of Alicante we find the regions of Valencia, on the southwest we have Murcia and Albacete on the west.
HOW TO GET THERE
Alicante Airport is about 11 km (6.8 miles) south of the city. Many low cost companies, like Air Berlin, Ryanair and Easyjet fly there.
Bus C-6 takes you to the city in 30 minutes for Euro 2.60 and leaves every 20 minutes.
You can also take a taxi, costing between 15 and 20 euro.
TRAVELLING AROUND
To visit the old town you can go on foot as most points of interest are very close from each other.
You can also get around by bus or tram with tickets costing Euro 1.15.
The train station connects Alicante to the most important Spanish cities and also gets to the coastal cities of Benidorm, Calpe, Denia and Altea.
