During the period of Moorish domination, Granada was the jewel of the peninsula. Today the city houses the greatest Moorish legacy in Europe, one of the most captivating, magical tourist attractions on the continent: the Alhambra.
Granada is located in Granada Province, in Andalusia. Granada has a rich culture and history, exciting nightlife, and also ski resorts in the nearby Sierra Nevada.
We can also visit the beautiful valleys Las Alpujarras with its immaculate white villages and small woods. But most of all, Granada has the Alhambra.
REASONS TO GO
The dazzling Alhambra the citadel was once the palace of the Moorish sultans, with majestic gardens.

ORIENTATION
The two principal streets of the city are the Gran Via de Colón (connecting the north to the south) and Reyes Católicos Avenue (connecting east to west). Both streets cross in the Isabel la Católica Square. In front of the great cathedral you will find Plaza Bib-Rambla, with many restaurants and cafés and also with the old Arabian market Alcaiceria. West from The Reyes Católicos Avenue, is the Puerta Real, and east is the Plaza Nueva. The most beautiful area to visit is eastern Plaza Nueva: The Alhambra and the Albacin Quarter are there.
The Alhambra appears to have been spirited out of a fairytale, or closer to home, out of one of the Arabian Nights tales. Outside, an imposing red fortress surrounded by cypresses and inside an exquisite architectural jewel comprised of an impressive palace (Nasrid Palace) and an inspiring garden (Generalife). Its name stems from the full name "Qal'at al-hamra" which in Arabic means Red Fortress. It was a palace, a citadel and a fortress, the residence of the Nasrid Sultans and high palace dignitaries, courtesans and elite soldiers in the 13th and 14th centuries.
The UNESCO World Heritage Committee declared the Granada Alhambra and Generalife part of the Cultural Heritage of Humanity in a session on 2nd November, 1984.
