The Sultan Ahmed Mosque is a historical mosque in Istanbul, originated as an Islamic response to Hagia Sophia. The Blue Mosque Sultan Ahmed ordered it to be built during his reign. Its interior is fabulous, with bluish light filtering down due to its tiles.
The mosque is popularly known as the Blue Mosque for the blue tiles adorning the walls of its interior.
While still used as a mosque, the Sultan Ahmed Mosque has also become a popular tourist attraction.
