The Museum Mayer van den Bergh was the first museum in the world to be built around a single collection – with a special focus on Bruegel.

The collection of the museum is focused in art from the fourteenth to sixteenth century and belonged to the collector Fritz Mayer van den Berghart.

The collection was enriched by his contemporaries with Gothic and Renaissance pieces.
