Grainger Museum

for free

Originally called the 'Music Museum and Grainger Museum', and later the 'Grainger Museum', the building was constructed in two stages between 1935 and 1939, facing Royal Parade on the University of Melbourne campus in Parkville.

Officially opened in December 1938, this museum is a repository of items documenting the life, career and music of the composer, folklorist, educator and pianist Percy Grainger.

After a seven years restoration and conservation work, it reopened on 17 October 2010.

Here you can find the original manuscripts and published scores, musical instruments, field recordings, artworks, photographs, books and personal items,
