The Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts (IGNCA) was established in 1987 in memory of Smt. Indira Gandhi.

This museum is dedicated to the study and experience of all the arts, from archaeology and anthropology to the visual and performing arts, enveloping them in a complementary and non-demarcated vision.

The museum is divided in 6 areas: the Kala Nidhi,an multi-form library; the
Kala Kosa, dedicated to the study and publication of fundamental texts in Indian languages, the Janapada Sampada, related to lifestyle studies; the
Kaladarsana, the executive unit which transforms researches and studies emanating from the IGNCA into visible forms through exhibitions; the
Cultural Informatics Lab, devoted to technology tools for cultural preservation and propagation and finally the Sutradhara, the administrative section.
