Also known as Casa de Brás de Albuquerque, Casa dos Bicos is one of the most emblematic buildings of the Portuguese capital, not only by the curious name (house of points) , but also for its originality, equipped coated stone-shaped diamond tip.
The house, located in Campo das Cebolas, west of the Palace Square Terreiro do Paço, was built by D. Brás de Albuquerque in 1523, after returning from a trip to Italy, where he saw for the first time the Palace of Diamonds of Ferrara and the Bevilácqua Palace in Bologna.
Therefore, the House presents a unique architectural style, strongly inspired by Italian Renaissance, with an irregular distribution of windows and doors, all of different shapes and sizes.
After long years of restoration, it is estimated that soon the house will open doors as the home of the Foundation José Saramago, Portuguese writer awarded with the Nobel Prize for Literature.
