Belgium is a country on the North Sea coast in the Benelux. Belgium sits at the intersection of Western Europe. Its “next door” neighbours are France, Luxembourg, Germany and the Netherlands.
This country is divided in three regions:
Flanders – in the north, is the Dutch-speaking region of the country. It is very plane and includes cities like Antwerp, Ghent and Bruges.
Brussels - the bilingual capital region of the country.
Wallonia – in the south, is the French-speaking region, and includes a small German speaking region in the east (by the German border).
The Belgium landscape is very different, from the North Sea plain coasts, to the green hills in the central region and deep forests in their highlands of Ardennes, in the southeast.
Brussels, the capital, hosts the headquarters of major international organizations, including NATO and of course, European Union.
