GUIDANCE
Formentera is located approximately 60 kilometres (40 mi) south of Ibiza in the Mediterranean Sea. Ibiza is the main point of departure to reach the island. Geography presents a predominantly flat, with an intact and rocky coastline and beautiful sandy beaches, such as Llevant and Platja Platja de Ses Illetes, on both sides of a promontory at the northern end, or the isolated beaches on the south coast, quite popular among practitioners of nudism. The capital of Sant Francesc is a picturesque town with an attractive eighteenth century church in the main square and an interesting Ethnological Museum. Sant Francesc, a narrow road leads to the southern tip of the island, Cap de Barbaria, with an isolated lighthouse at the tip and a defensive tower of the eighteenth century. Another lighthouse stands on the eastern end of the island, in the plateau of La Mola, along with a monument in honor of the French writer Jules Verne, who used the island as a setting for one of their works.

WHEN TO GO

The tourism industry is the largest of the Balearic Islands, so the summer is the warmest time of year and busy. From late January to early March, is a good time to visit the island. The weather is also cooler (with average temperatures of around 12º C) and invites to walks outdoors, in addition to the sunny days that allow even have lunch at an outdoor cafe. All the islands are nice in the spring (average temperatures are 16º C) and autumn (22º C), when the islands are quieter. However, some hotels, restaurants and bars, especially in Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera, close during the winter. If you want to visit them during the winter months (with an average temperature of 12º C), the best option is Mallorca, which along with Palm, will open trade and entertainment to offer to visitors if the weather becomes less good.
