Maó is the capital City of Minorca Island, known for its impressive harbour and the many restaurants and bars. The most important tourist area is next to the south coast and includes some big luxury.
After Pearl Harbour, the Mao’s harbour is the second largest natural deep water port in the world.

ORIENTATION
Climbing the vertical streets of the city centre gives us a view of the modernist buildings (Mir House) or the amazing seigniorial houses along Isabel II Street. A visit to the Fish Market (Mercado del Pescado) is also essential.
HOW TO GET THERE
Minorca's airport has buses to the city centre, leaving every 30 minutes, costing €1.50 and taking about 15 minutes to get there. A taxi run will take 10 minutes and cost around €12.
TRAVELLING AROUND
Though the city is quite steep it’s easy to move around by foot. Taxis and car rental are also very popular option to move around the island.
There are also buses travelling between Ciutadella and Mao for less than € 5.
