The Journey Begins to the eastern Himalayans!

About Bhutan:

The Kingdom of Bhutan is placed in the heart of the Himalayan mountain ranges and is a small land-locked country east of Nepal, south of Tibetan region of china and surrounded on three sides by the northeastern states of India. With the population of little more 700,000, Bhutan has a rich of and unique culture heritage that has largely remained intact because of its isolated from the rest of the world until the early 1960s. one of the main attraction for tourist is the country ‘s culture and traditions. Because of its largely unspoiled natural environment and cultural heritage, and where nature and people live in harmony, Bhutan has been referred to as The last Shangri-La

Physical Features:

The country stretches across most climatic zones; from the sub- tropical jungles in the south to the alpine temperate range and the towering Himalayan Mountains and glaciers in the north.

Climate:

For a relatively small landmass, the wide geographical variation gives Bhutan its varied climate character with four distinct seasons (spring, summer, autumn and winter). The southern plains close to the india borders are warmer and more tropical, center valleys are warmer with the alpine north is cold throughout the year. Depending on the climatic conditions, monsoon rain usually begins from june until the end of august, and the winter stretching from December to February can be cold with frequent snowfall in most northern parts of Bhutan.

Natural Environment:

The natural environment is pristine and mostly undisturbed because of the national policy to maintain 60 percentages under forest cover at any given time for conservation purposes. Currently about 65 percent of the country is under forest cover and approximately 45 percent of the land is under protected areas that comprise of five national park. Four wildlife sanctuaries and one strict nature reserve. About 9 percent of the land falls under biological corridors in which wildlife sanctuaries and natural reserves connect protected areas.
