The Lincoln Memorial stands at the west end of the National Mall as a neoclassical monument to the 16th President.

It is built in the form of a Greek Doric temple.
Within the memorial is a colossal statue of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States. The president is shown in a seated position. Two of his most famous speeches are inscribed on the memorial as well, namely The Gettysburg Address and the Second Inaugural Address.

While it is only one of several monuments built to honor an American president, many regard the Lincoln Memorial as the very finest one.
