In 1984, café-restaurant Walem was one of the first modern establishments in Amsterdam. Since then its design and unique character have been preserved: in the centre of the ring of canals, a long and spatial café-restaurant, and the front facade, designed by the architect Rietveld. The lunch is good, traditional but modern and the dinner has a Mediterranean twist. High demands are set upon quality, meanwhile, the coffee is widely known in Amsterdam. The enthusiastic waiters, the unique character and the good menu make a visit to Walem worth while.

In summertime they have a nice terrace next to the canal, so waiters have to cross the road and sometimes that causes a little bit of traffic …! Walem is one of the best places in the sun, when the sun is shining of course!
