A Vida Portuguesa was born from an investigation into old Portuguese products: those that have, in most cases, been around for generations, mainly because they offer great quality. Products that have kept their original packaging or have taken inspiration from it; products that are handmade or made accordingly to old techniques or skills. Products with a history behind them, if you wish.

And in the meantime, A Vida Portuguesa has also started (re)creating exclusive products with some of these brands and developing its own range.

It sells a wide range of products: toiletries, stationery, books, jewellery, food, handicrafts, toys and utilities.

A Vida Portuguesa is in a central and old building. It used to be a shop specialised in fabrics (Armazéns Fernandes Mattos & Companhia) and supplied the posh customers of downtown Porto since 1886. The shop still exists in the ground floor and A Vida Portuguesa occupies the floors above.
