Antonin Dvorak Museum, All Areas The Antonin Dvorak Museum is a part of the Czech Museum of Music which pertains to the complex of the National Museum. The museum displays photographs, newspaper cuttings, programmes and personal objects relating to the composer, including his viola and his piano. BedÅ™ich Smetana Museum, All Areas Bedřicha Smetana Musum is since 1936 situated on Vlatava shore, in neo-renaissance building of former Oldtowner Water-station from 80's of 19th century, in the nearest neighbourhood of Charles Bridge, on the place with beatiful view on Vltava river and Prague Castle. Exhibits include copies of letters, photographs and newspaper cuttings relating to Smetana’s life as well as various possessions including his earbone (Smetana suffered from deafness). There are also folders on music stands which contain material about some of Smetana’s most famous works. Church of Our Lady Victorious, All Areas for free This church is wellknown for of its architecture and artistic decoration, and specially preserved and venerated the famous statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague. A chapel dedicated to the Holy Trinity was built on this site in 1584, following Rudolph II´s Letter of Majesty a larger church for German Protestants. With the Battle of White Mountain, 8 November 1620, the Counter-Reformation signalled the re-Catholicism of Prague. The church was given to the direction of the Carmelites in September 1624. Convent of Agnes of Bohemia, All Areas Considered the first Gothic building not only in Prague, but generally in Bohemia, this convent is dedicated to Agnes of Prague, a medieval Bohemian princess who opted for a life of charity, mortification of the flesh and piety over a life of luxury and comfort. Although she was venerated soon after her death, Agnes was not beatified or canonized for over 700 years. The first part of the exhibition on the first floor traces the development of Czech art from the panel paintings and sculptures of the mid-14th century (Master of the Vyšší­ Brod altar, Master of the Michle Madonna) and the "soft" style of Master Theodoric, to the paintings of the Master of the Třeboň Altar and those executed in the International style (St Vitus Madonna, St Peter of Slivice, variant of the Krumlov Madonna). Lapidary of the National Museum, All Areas The National Museum of Lapidary or the Lapidárium Národní­ho muzea is dedicated to sculpture and is the largest public collection in the Czech Republic. At the Lapidary you can see the original sculptures from the Charles Bridge, sculptures from the Loreto and statues from Vysehrad. The sculptures are showcased in eight exhibition halls. It is interesting to note that in 1995 the museum placed in the top ten most beautiful exhibitions in Europe at an international competition. Maisel Synagogue, All Areas The synagogue was built at the end of the 16th century as a private house of prayer for the use of mayor Mordechai Maisel and his family. It serves today as a Jewish Museum, part of the collection of the Jewish Museum in Prague. There is placed a collection of silver objects in the centre of the exhibition, mainly the baroque levitical set, originaly from Pinkas synagogue. There are also exposed czech dinars, from 10th and 11th century, on whose coinage the Jewish moneyers participated. There is an interesting bill of debt from the year 1378, where, as a guarantee is stated Jan Zizka from Trocnov. Very impressive are also the images showing kinds of Jews discrimination, illustrationing antisemitic stereotypes. Mucha Museum, All Areas The world´s first Mucha Museum, dedicated to the life and work of the world-acclaimed Czech ART NOUVEAU artist Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939), is housed in the Baroque Kaunický Palace in the very heart of Prague. The exhibiton gives an extensive overview of the artistic work of Alphonse Mucha (1860 - 1939). Special attention is paid to his time in Paris (1887-1904), internationally the most celebrated period of his work. The Sternberg Palace exhibits European art mainly from the Classical Era to the Baroque, with emphasis on the 14th to 18th centuries.
