The Museum of Science and the Cosmos is not a traditional museum. It belongs to a generation of science museums whose aim is to not only show scientific and technical achievements of a certain age or place, or to aimply demonstrate them in a plain pedagogical format.
The real goal is to communicate what science is, using all the available means, relying in a particular way over interactivity and experimentation across different fields, enhancing the ludical sides of perception and analysis of reality through a multimedial approach.
Casa Lercaro is located in La Laguna city center and it was built at the end of the 16th century by a family of genovese merchants.
The Museum was inaugurated in 1993 with the intention to develop a project aimed at let people know more about the history and the institutional, social, economic and cultural development of Tenerife between the 15th and 20th centuries.
