This is the recent palace used by Nepal's last king Gyanendra Birabikram Shahdev. In 2001, Royal family of Birendra Bikram Shahdev was killed including queen , two sons and daughter. After massacre, the palace was used by the last king Gyanendra Shah. After massacre in royal palace, every people are willing to visit the palace but later in 2007 it was opened for public. Interiors and different rooms from Banquet room to bed room of King and queen are impressively decorated. The bullet marks during massacre are still there and death spot of royal family still preserved though the main building was suspiciously damaged.
