Akureyrarkirkja, All Areas for free The Akureyri church is the symbol of Akureyri. It is a Lutheran church and was designed by architect Gudjon Samuelsson and consecrated in 1940. The central stained glass window above the altar formed a part of a set which was destroyed in an air raid on Coventry Cathedral in England. The bas-reliefs on the nave balcony are by sculptor Asmundur Sveinsson and the baptismal font is a replica of a work by sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen. [ + plus ]

Hof Cultural and Conference Center, All Areas Hof is a cultural building designed for music and other performing arts, as well as top-notch facilities for conferences and meetings, receptions, parties and exhibitions. The building has two larger conference auditoriums and a comprehensive restaurant service. Hof has first-class facilities for events of various kinds and the best available technical equipment. Mudpots, All Areas for free A mudpot — or mud pool — is a sort of acidic hot spring, or fumarole, with limited water. It usually takes the form of a pool of bubbling mud. The acid and microorganisms decompose surrounding rock into clay and mud.It's amazing to see the geothermal dynamics of Iceland! Vaolaheioi Utsynispallur, All Areas for free This scenic lookout is situated directly opposite Akureyri on the otherside of Eyjafjordur. It provides a splendid 180 degree view of the town and the fjord. It's a well set up observatory point as it has a large car park and would be hard to miss on the road.
