Bhutan or Druk Yul, the 'Land of the Thunder Dragon', is a small country in the Himalayas, located between Tibet and India. BEST TIME TO VISIT
The best time to visit Buthan is from October to May. If you are planning to go trekking, avoid the months from November to February due to the excess of snow in the trails.
HOW TO GET THERE
Paro is Bhutan's only airport, located in a deep valley and surrounded by high mountains.
The airport transfers to Paro (20 minutes) and Thimphu (1 hour) are all organised by the Tour Operators or the hotels.
TRAVELLING AROUND
Route permits are required to travel around Bhutan. These permits are issued by the immigration office in Thimphu.
By bus/car
The roads that cross the country are characterized are very steep and twisty, but are usually very well-maintained and safe. A 4 WD or a mini bus can be arranged through a tour operator.
