The Parque Santa Catarina is one of the most popular parks in Funchal. It's has nice garden area with beautiful views of the bay of Funchal with many trees a big pond and a wide variety of flowers. It also has a children's playground, snack bar and a charming chapel dedicated to St. Catherine. This small chapel was first built in 1425 entirely of wood and only in the seventeenth century that was rebuilt in stone. The chapel was dedicated to St. Catherine by Dona Constance, João Gonçalves Zarco woman who had it built.
