Porto's Museum of Contemporary Art (Museu de Serralves) was designed by renowned architect Alvaro Siza Vieira from nearby Matosinhos.
The house was built in the 30's, and it's an Art Deco example. It provides a unique cultural forum for contemporary Portuguese and international artists.
The permanent collection covers a period from the 1960s to the present and works by artists profoundly influenced by the political and social unrest of the time.
The museum also contains an auditorium, a library and a restaurant/café, and is set in beautiful gardens.
