The Timiryazev State Biology Museum is is a museum of natural history.
Created in 1922 by Academician B.M.Zavadovsky, the actual museum has more than 60 thousand exhibits.
These are zoological, botanical and paleontologic specimens, cultivated plants, fruit and fungi, rare books, animal paintings and sculptures. The museum's excursion program is tailored to specific age groups and includes more than 60 themes of excursions and lectures. The museum is also the host for various clubs and societies, has a programme of events for parents and children, and puts on live performances, such as the biological play "Family Maze", which was rewarded with the Soros Fund diploma in 1995. The museum organises approximately 12 exhibitions a year, including touring exhibitions that take the museum's displays all over Russia
