BACKGROUND
Submarine Safaris set up his operations in Tenerife in 2007 in the south of the island at Marina San Miguel. This marina was specifically chosen as dive site due to the variety of marine life and especially the Stingrays.
Since they started in Tenerife they have tried to develop their diving area into an underwater marine park. They have attracted a number of stingrays, which are now part of the Submarines family. Divers look after these rays, ensuring they maintain a natural environment for them to breed and develop. Submarines are designed to be 100% environmentally friendly. They are powered solely by batteries, and they have no oils or pollutants onboard, which could either harm the marine life, or their habitat.
A free bus service operates from all the major resorts on the island, including the North of Tenerife, to bring you down to Marina San Miguel.
The reception centre has its own Terrace café with great views looking towards Mount Teide for a refreshment before or after the dive. You will also find a shopping area where you can purchase all your souvenirs from your dive, plus much more.
In the Marina there are a number of other activities such as a diving club, fishing etc...
EXCURSIONS
The dive will take you over 30m (100ft) below the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
It will take approx. one hour, which includes boarding and disembarking the submarine. Each dive has tour guide onboard who will give a comprehensive explanation about the dive and submarine.
Onboard the submarine you will be allocated your personal seat, right in front of large viewing ports (80cm/32â€), ensuring total viewing pleasure to the outside underwater world. Each view port has its own TV monitor giving you alternative viewing angles, along with a digital display panel giving continuous information about the submarine.
Four dives per day are offered, 6 days a week. from each location.
