This unique 3 hour tour is one of two halves, in and around the beautiful Tiergarten the largest park in Berlin. The first part discusses looks at the events of late-1943 and early 1944 and British Strategic Bomber Command’s failed attempt to shorten the war by bombing the heart of the Third Reich into submission.
The second half of the Tour looks at the final Battle of Berlin, the assault on the "Fortress Berlin" by Russian forces, which occurred with in late April and the beginning of May 1945. This signaled the symbolic end of the Nazi Regime and the beginning of the Cold war The context, tactics and aftermaths of the battles are discussed with the aid of maps, plans, photos and other documentary sources whilst visiting the sites which include the ruins of Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, site of the Zoo Flak Tower, the Siegessäule (Victory Column), the Soviet War Memorial and the Reichstag.
